I love it when I find a book that says what I want to say, but way better than I could ever say it. This is one of those books. For as long as I've been a Christian I've connected with the primal, irrational, counter-cultural call of Jesus--the call that compels people to move to a different continent and be missionaries, sell their posessions and give to the poor, or choose the high road even when there is a lot of material benefit to cutting a few corners. I don't always do the best job of living with the Fearless Faith (another good book) I would like to have, but I've never been satisfied with "civilized" Christianity either. I'm not interested in living by default, doing church by default, or being a Christian by default. I can't handle the status quo because God has called me to something more.
This book is about living with the kind of primal, authentic faith God calls us to have--a faith that looks raw and barbaric and undignified to civilized people. I loved it. Get it, read it, and live the Barbarian Way.

ive been wanting to read this
Its good. It's kind of like Wild at Heart, but it's not targeted to men, and it has more of a spiritual focus.
Sounds like something I need to add to my Christmas list... :-)
where did you go, Joe Dimaggio?
